Prayer Concerns from our network of ministry colleagues in Savannah Presbytery

-- Significant health concerns

Suzanne Baroody (wife of the Rev. Dr. Alan Baroody; director of counseling at the Fraser Center in Hinesville), she continues cancer treatments

The Reverend Herman Pride (Honorably Retired Pastor, who leaves our area this week as his family relocates to Louisiana)

The Reverend Joe Brice (Blackshear PC)

Ginger Sifford

Ron Polmanteer

Pat Ragsdale

-- New babies on the way
The Reverend Will Shelburne (Associate pastor at First PC Savannah), and his wife Sara, who are expecting a child in early June.

Ministry candidate Craig Pope (Pastor-elect, Montgomery Presbyterian Church, Savannah) and his wife Ashley expect a baby in July.

-- Marriage for one of our presbytery staff

Lou Ellen (Burdick) Hartley got married earlier this year. She is our presbytery staff specialist for Christian Education and camping.

Our congregation has elected of our eight members to serve on this year’s Officer Nominating Committee. Please pray for their upcoming work that this group – and our future deacons and elders – will be attentive to God’s direction for our leadership boards, and the whole church’s ministry.

Please be in prayer for our Neighborhood Discovery Tours going on now, as members of our church go out to neighborhoods, shopping centers, recreational sites and other places on Sunday mornings. Our goal is to listen and observe, so that we can find some of the specific issues facing the people of Bryan County. After this part of our process, we will begin to work toward becoming the bridge which can connnect our neighbors’ needs and requests with our Lord’s promises and responses. (There are still opportunities for you and others to help in this process. Speak with Pastor Greg or one of the elders to find out how you might be able to take part.)

Please pray for the work of the search committee which is now working in the Presbytery of Savannah to find our next General Presbyter, the person who essentially leads our presbytery staff and serves as pastor to the 43 congregations in southeast Georgia. That group is now considering candidates to follow the Rev. Carl Schlich who has retired. (The Rev. Greg Garis is now serving us as our interim executive.)

Cheryl Fox’s friend, Diane, who has successfully finished chemo and is awaiting the start of radiation for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Please keep her in our prayers through her radiation.

Also, Cheryl has asked us to continue to remember Jenny and John Sharp in your prayers….Jenny had another test for cervical cancer and, praise the Lord, there is no cancer found this time. Her mother is calling it a miracle as she was sure Jenny was facing surgery and possibly chemo. Jenny’s husband, John, is to start chemo very soon. He is doing much better after his surgery, and they both are thankful for out continued prayer for them and their families.

Bobby Tomlin who is recovering from bypass surgery

Mary Ann Jones as she makes decisions regarding her elderly mother’s care and possible move from NY to Richmond Hill

Frankie Crosby

Jennifer Smith and her family. Jennifer is recovering from surgery to remove a brain tumor and is receiving follow-up treatment.

Donald and Susannah Fawcett appreciate our prayers. They have received good news following tests. Donald will continue to be under a doctor’s care but tests for serious conditions proved to be negative.

Paul Gibbs (Ellen Parker’s brother-in-law) returned home from Africa with the Mission Team he was traveling with. The trip held some unexpected turns and the team did not receive the materials that had been shipped over 4 months ago due to problems at the Port in Africa. However, he feels that they touched many lives including their own and is in prayer that the people there will eventually received the materials and be able to build their Church. He thanks you for your prayers.

The Warner family

Jill Harris, a friend of the Martinez family, who is being treated for stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Jill is 40 years old and is the mother of two children.

Ron Stover as he continues to recover from surgery. I do not know whether he was able to come home yet or not.

Jennifer Blanton’s father, John Ross. Ricky says that Jennifer may try to come home for few days this week. Her dad remains in serious conditions and the family appreciates our prayers. I received their home address in an email at school, if you would like to send a card.

John & Kris Ross

Acworth, GA 30101

Eleanor and Graham Leggett- Her condition has improved to the extent that she is now able to return to their home in Midway. She was scheduled to be discharged from St. Joseph's hospital on Thursday evening. She will be at their house in Midway, and Odyssey Hospice is involved in her care. (Greg reminded us this week that the care provided when hospice is involved is focused on symptom management, and care for the patient and the loved ones. It is not necessarily a diagnosis nor a time frame.)

Owen Thayer as he recovers from major surgery to remove a cancerous tumor this week

My sister, Beth Gibbs, as she has tests run in the coming weeks to hopefully rule out any serious concerns.

Mallory Ambrose will be meeting with a surgeon on Tuesday for a biopsy of two cysts on her brain. The cysts were discovered following her getting hit in the head with a softball and necessary treatment for that injury. The doctor’s think they are pre-existing.

Jennifer Blanton’s father, John Ross. Here is an update that we received from Jennifer this afternoon
I wanted to give everyone an update. My father's test came back negative - meaning he could continue Heparin for now. That was a wonderful answer to many prayers! He continues to remain stable today, and we are praying that he continues to respond to the blood thinners. Thank you to everyone who has kept me and my family in their prayers. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. He is still bleeding internally and blood clots remain a serious concern.
