Please join us in praying for the following people and situations this week:

Susanna Kirby who will be having knee surgery on Tuesday of this week and for traveling mercies for her as she travels to Florida to visit family this weekend prior to her surgery

All of the people in the U.S. and the islands of the Caribbean who have been affected by the recent hurricanes and tropical storms. In particular, we want to remember Dawn Wren’s sister in Houston. Her name is Lisa Murphy.

The victims and the families of victims of the tragic train crash in California this weekend

Jennifer Blanton has asked us to continue to pray for her father, John Ross. He has begun daily radiation and chemo treatments which will continue for the next six weeks. His spirits are great, but he's lost a great deal of weight since his esophageal surgery in July and will be facing a tough few weeks ahead.

Alan Garrett has sent us an update from his friend, Dan Scott.

Dan Scott reports that his team of doctors found the swollen nodes in his neck to be benign. It was a relief for him and his family as they have been battling cancer for many years. He thanks the Church for lifting him up in its prayers.

Graham Leggett

My niece, Liza Allen, and her husband, Matt following a miscarriage this past week

Colleen Cassiday who is recovering from surgery- she had a tumor partially removed from her thyroid. She is doing well and her tests were negative for cancer. We thank God for that wonderful news.

Brian Bates, Lynnette Buzzell’s brother, who has started chemo again. The cancer is now in his bone. Lynette has been in touch with several people in our congregation and she will really appreciate our prayers for her brother. She feels that he may not have much time left. Please pray for him and for Lynnette and her family.

Mellie Long had very extensive foot surgery involving a tendon in her left ankle that has gone bad. I think the surgery was on Monday. The doctor also removed 2 cysts. Mellie will be off of her foot for 6 to 10 weeks. Mellie asks that we pray for her. Also, please pray for David (and Mellie) as he takes on the role of caregiver. She will have to be off of her foot for 6 to 10 weeks.

Elizabeth Hanafin has shared this sad news with us and has asked us to be in prayer for her family during this time.

My nephew's oldest little boy (my great-nephew) has died as the result of a terrible home accident. The accident was Monday and he died yesterday (Tuesday, September 9th). They are in California. The little boy's name was Jason Burns and he was 11 years old. My nephew and his wife are Daniel and Misty Burns. Joshua and I will not be able to attend the service and be with the family, which is extremely hard on me right now. I so want to be with my brother and my nephew, and everyone... We are a very close family and this has just devastated us all. The only comfort we have is that Jason is safe in the arms of Jesus now, but it still hurts so badly.
